 CARMEN on the Move

ArticlesComune di Prato hosted a stand recently at Carrara Mobility show in Italy, at the premises of Carrara Fiere, Marina di Carrara. Mobility Show represented a chance of laying emphasis on mobility and environment policies, as to focus the attention on urban sustainability and introducing the solid solutions embraced by Public Authorities.

The transport system in one of the most contributing factors towards cities growth and competitiveness. Its development, however, may bring consequences such as traffic saturation, economic ineffectiveness, power waste, increase of accidents, increase of air and acoustic pollution, space occupancy, visual intrusion. Within this context, Mobility Show represented a meeting point for new solutions, an opportunity for the different government bodies, directly involved in the environment and sustainable mobility policy, to share, compare, discuss and deepen these issues.

Comune di Prato showcased how they have used the CARMEN system for traffic management by alerting citizens to traffic jams and accidents through SMS. Private sector and public administrations took a keen interest in the demonstrations and are keen to learn more about future CARMEN developments.
